About the role
Amazon North America Stores (NAS) Design organization is seeking our next senior UX designer. Our team is dedicated to being the beacon of design excellence within the highly visual, emotive, and impassioned space where shopping and innovative technology meet. We need your experience, optimism, and energy to build simple, fluid, and beautiful experiences that accommodate Amazon's growing and diverse product selection, and give customers everything they need to make confident buying decisions while delighting them along the way.
We are constantly spotting opportunities to set new standards and challenge the status quo, and we need someone who does the same. The right person for this role sets and communicates a high bar for quality, collects data, and triangulates a variety of inputs into insights that inform customer-centered design solutions. You understand how to connect the dots and find opportunities between multiple touch points, and you're passionate about leading design workshops, discovery activities, and creative reviews with colleagues at all levels.
Beyond craft, you work strategically with executives and senior leaders to build alignment around broader design strategy and deliver best-in-class products. You're an empathic teammate and mentor who nurtures a thriving, collaborative design culture, and a self-starter who can confidently navigate ambiguity.
A senior UX designer role on our team offers the opportunity to lead the design of innovative retail shopping experiences across multiple big, exciting, and diverse programs worldwide. If you're aligned with our leadership principles and ready to make a serious impact on our industry and the world, we'd love to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
• Design the user experience of key, differentiated features for North American Stores categories
• Design solutions for complex design and technical problems where product strategy is not fully defined
• Create conceptual sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes using AI tools
• Collaborate effectively across diverse teams and disciplines to drive alignment and efficiency
• Develop and improve design patterns, standards, and processes that scale for your team
• Lead brainstorming sessions and present at cross-team reviews to demonstrate features and drive design decisions
• Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data (metrics, usability studies) to inform product-level customer experience decisions
• Work closely with engineering to incorporate capabilities and constraints of the technology stack
• Balance short- and long-term design requirements against engineering constraints
About the team
We're an eclectic creative team of design, research, and design technology professionals who share our experiences and help each other succeed. We hire people who are unafraid of bringing their authentic selves to work because our inspiration and collaboration depend on the diversity of our teams and the inclusion of all voices in our process. We love a complex problem and moving fast in a growing and changing environment. We appreciate action and learning from mistakes. Championing our customers, placing their particular goals in the forefront, and lifting customer empathy across the larger organization is our sweet spot. Our creative work impacts millions of customers, thousands of selling partners, and hundreds of coworkers every day, and we are proud to be a part of it.
